Hi, C Lee Bremer

Lady Loki Corset

FR2014 Runner Up!

The corset is made from olive silk shantung, with a coutil strength layer. The boning is predominantly ¼" spiral steels, with flat steels at center front and center back. Basket weaving as corset embellishment was something I had been wanting to try ever since seeing a co-worker make-up a woven leather goodie for a client. While reading Norse myths I had the realization that this was the perfect opportunity! In almost all of the Lady Loki incarnations she has some kind of geometric decoration on her bust or torso. Jorgumand, also known as The World Serpent and one of Loki's children, is so large he can wrap himself around the world and bite his own tail. In this way all of the strips woven into the corset become the serpentine body of Jorgumand.

Yes No   I've loved this corset since I first saw it on Facebook! The weaving is sublime and sets off the corset perfectly!

Yes No   The structure is beautiful... you should definitely write an article on incorporating this method into corsetry!

Yes No   Absolutely stunning. I bet the woven areas ease themselves quite naturally over curves - at least, that's what it looks like from the photos. So great!

Yes No   Thank you, and yes you are right, the bias was very helpful in easing over the curves. Aside from bias I have only ever tried this with leather that had some natural stretch to it.

Yes No   This is absolutely stunning, I love your motivation and inspiration behind the idea, it also reminds me very much of doing something with celtic knot work. The color is just amazing, I can't take my eyes off of it, I would never want to take it off lol
