Earlier on in the year I was inspired to try working on something a little different from my usual corsets, a little bit classy and elegant with a dramatic shape. This underbust was born, black heavyweight duchesse satin fashion, later backed onto coutil and complete with cotton floating liner.

This piece is really a visual influenced piece, the delicate bridal lace cut into a sweeping v shape that emphasis the nipped in waist and hourglass silhouette that this corset boasts.

The flossing details draw the eyes to the hips and ribcage, making the shape appear more dramatic. The stark difference in colours add contrast. Whilst it is mainly visual there are elements of touch, the lace is adorned with small beads and sequins and the flossing adds raised detail to the boning channels. Whilst beautiful the lace had an awful habit of fraying and had to be stitched very carefully to avoid damaging the fabric and losing the detail. It also had to be cut and pieced together to create this design. It was worth the effort but it was a lot of hard work. I really enjoy working with corsets that boast a high hip to waist ratio. It is a very modern style corset except the pattern is inspired by victorian riding corsets, being that it is actually a very short corset so moving in it is quite easy.
