Hi, C Lee Bremer

Until It's Laced Up

The inspiration for this corset came while I was having lesson, I don't know how... I just imagined it!

Then when I got home I immediately sketched it down on a paper sheet, I liked it right away!

The following days I went about Milan after school to find out a shop which had a quiet nice fabric, at the beginning I didn't thought to realize the corset with silk, I just thought I had to find a nice cotton fabric... but when I saw the Mikado silk I knew it must have been the right one.

I started draping the pattern on the mannequin, then once I got a satisfying result I industrialized the pattern to start sewing it during the week.

I have an industrial sewing machine, it isn't still easy for me to use it, but time after time i can look back to my previous works and say "I'm improving". I first sewed the lining, then the outer fabric, putting a black corded stripe between the pieces. Once I had the outside and the inside of my corset sewn, I started putting them together. I put the busk in place sewing it with a zipper foot, after I fixed the waist tape to not make the materials stretch. I measured the bones and placed them inside the boning channels.

When the work was nearly done I decided to put a lace at the bottom edge of the corset, and then I closed the entire work with a black silk tape.

The corset took fifteen hours of work, for tailoring, plus two hours for pattern making.

Yes No   The lace really makes this piece pop - it's gorgeous. Simple but elegant and you can see that it is constructed amazingly, too.

Yes No   Classy in simple black and white. It reminds me of the scene where they go to the races in "My Fair Lady." Just really clean and perfect. Great job!

Yes No   I'm glad someone else mentioned the 'My Fair Lady' image, as it's exactly what popped into my head when I first saw this corset. It's simple, chic, elegant and glamorous; just like Ms Hepburn herself!
