I stumbled upon the contest a few weeks ago and I thought, "Oh, sad I don´t have a corset that fits to the themes and I don´t have time at the moment to sew one." And indeed I forgot the competition. Then I found time to sew a corset with cups. I really wanted to do this a long time before, but never did it. I needed four days to sew the corset. Drawing the pattern, pinning the pattern to the mannequin, doing changes. Then I started with searching matching fabrics and accessories in my boards and deco-boxes. I decided for this rosé fabric, the pearls and sweet roses. Cutting, sewing and decorate was much fun :-) especially to make the cups was a new challenge. Inside it is sewed with coutil which I reinforced with fusible interfacing, and the rosé fabric is just the fashion layer.
It has a waistband for robustness, the waistband is sandwiched between the outer and inner layer, and the lining layer is from white coutil too. Inside are handcut spiral bones with metal caps and rounded spring steel. It has a replaceable modesty panel in the back and is laced with a white tightly braided flat cord. The edging is handsewn in the inside of the corset. The cups are filled with bra-padding, so it´s nicer for wearing it. The pearls and roses are handsewn to the corset, too. I needed a half day to decide how I want them placed. And then...it was ready! And a friend of mine said: "It looks like a tart!" and suddenly I remembered the competition.
Yes, really, it looks like a tart with candy pearls and marzipan-roses. So this is taste! Roses smells wonderful and the pearls and embroidery feels really interesting, when you go over it with the fingers. I told her about the competition and she said I should send it in. So, I try it now, and hope you will like it!
Sadly, I didn´t write a dress-diary for this, because I didn´t make it especially for the competition...but I have two pictures from during the making. And I didn´t have time anymore to make a nice photoshoot with it...so you get some nice pictures from the corset on my mannequin.
I´m happy to be a part of the competition now and I really look forward for the next one. Thanks to everyone who will vote for me and much fun and success for the other participants!
