For the quad-boob issue, is there a way you can put the top strap-to-bridge edge on a fold? I don't know what kind of seam arrangement your bra has (this would be easiest on a bra with a slanting seam running roughly parallel to that edge), but a folded edge is going to have more give to it than a bound and stitched edge. If that doesn't do it, you could put it on a bias fold, or use a stretch material.

For the support, it seems like using a firmer fabric (or stitching/cording what you've got) and/or some light bones would probably help. I suspect you may need both, because bones won't do you any good if the fabric isn't firm enough to hold them up - much like with corsetry, it's your fabric which must to the work, and any boning is just there to keep it from wrinkling or sagging in on itself. Try stitching two or three layers of your firmest bra fabric together (maybe with some of that foam Mark sometimes uses as a middle layer) and see if that makes a difference in the support.

The materials issue probably just means buying new, I'm afraid. Hopefully you'll be able to pass on the rest to someone else who can get some use out of it.

If you have any pictures/sketches of the current construction, they would be really helpful. Doesn't have to be on you.

I'm in need of some uplifting (literally) advice for the large cup padded bra I'm making. This bra is for me and I need to finish this prototype as I am squished in the bra I'm in now. My measurements are 40(chest)- 58(bust)- 38(underbust); all natural and not as firm as I would like since gravity has taken a liking to me. I based the prototype on the Panache Super Tango II bra (UK 38K) I'm wearing and the visuals of the Ewa Michalak bras I would love to have. So far I have solved several problems:
(1) adding a power bar to push the sides forward smoothly and extended the strap from it
(2) changing the style lines and added additional sections to the lower cup region to round out the breast
(3) adjusted the wire splay on the front band for a smaller wire because the original wire in the Tango bra is too wide and long for my short ribcage
(4) doubled the powernet and rotated the DOGS on the second pieces for strength and stability
(5) changed from a three hook to a five hook back design
(6) changed from a strap tape into elastic design to wide tapering padded strap into elastic design

The problems I'm continually dealing with are:
(1) the upper cup shaping- no matter what I do, it digs into the upper tissue and gives off a quad boob effect
(2) I have readjusted the lower cup style lines to create an upward effect but will only do it when I manually pull from the top or hold it from the bottom with my hands
(3) I think the underwires and strap elastic I bought are too weak.

Maybe I should try boning the cups along the padding to help uplift. Maybe I should forgo my prototype all together and try a completely vertical seamed cup. The elastic I think I may have found but I can't seem to find strong size 58 steel underwires.
ANY HELP OR ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED!!!
