Hi everyone,

i'm a relativ newbe here, currantly working on an underbust corset (angelesspatterns 1237) which i fitted to my measurements and extended in the back, so that it comes up to the hights of an overbustcorset.

the second toile now fits lovely wenn i put it on, but when it's laced (3 inch reduction) it doesn't look so lovely at the back .
I had the same problem with the first toile, so i decided to make the second one higher, but that doesn't keep the "backflesh" from rising up over the brim when laced.( underbust is 31 inch )

So my Question now is: can there be only one perfect fit, and when you lace tighter, you just get that effect, or can i avoid that by reducing the waist in my pattern so that i dont have to lace that much for the same silhouette?

Well you don't need to reduce the waist, you can add more at the seams of those panels at the top...
Do you have pictures of the problem so we can tell more :)

Pictures, please - it's really hard to diagnose a fitting problem without seeing what's going on.

However, from what you've said I agree with Maybizarre. The problem is that you are squeezing too much of your flesh out the top of the corset. Make more room inside, above the waist, and your back won't get all squashed. The same solution works for the hips, too - if you're getting a roll right under the edge of the corset, open the hip up a few inches and watch the magic happen. Without pictures it's hard to tell how much to add. I'm guessing 1-2" per side (2.5 - 5cm), but it could be even more.

Thank you both,

i tried to take a picture from my back, but thats much harder than laceing yourself in, I'm living alone and didn't have the guts to ask my unknown neigbour for help ;)

I added al little at the upper back pattern and the corset is almost finished, I'll post pictures as soon as I get help fotographing.

If my posts sound akward, it's because english isn't my native language, sorry.

Sometimes it's easier to take a picture in the mirror. You can stand with your back to the mirror and hold your camera or phone up over your shoulder. It can take a few tries to get everything lined up right, though! Sometimes I use a little hand mirror so I can see the view screen on the back of the camera to line up the shot.
