So, I've recently joined and just discovered the forum. I'm still stumbling around the site trying to find my way around. But I figured while here, might as well introduce myself.

I'm Lori. I'm currently in my mid twenties, living with my fiance and three furbabies, working fulltime as an IT and R&D specialist, and going to college full time to finish my bachelors degree. Arts, Crafts, and sewing are some of the biggest passions. I LOVE Victorian inspired clothing, especially long skirts and corsets.
I'm still pretty much a beginner corsetiere and want to take my corsetry to a higher level. I want my corsety to be more of an art form and something that the person who owns the corset will treasure and get many years of use from. I got into corsetry in my early teens when I started going with my parents to Civil War Re-enactments, but all I had to learn from was commercial patterns such as Simplicity Historical Patterns. Needless to say, my first few corsets were not up to par by any stretch of the imagination. I've made several corsets throughout the years, all of them being a single strength layer with a fashion fabric outer layer, internal boning channels, busk and grommets. I've experimented with several types of boning with varying levels of success. But like I said, I want to move on from that level and with the aid of a few people I've come across this site and am hoping to learn whatever I can!
I have also started a blog,
www.gothicsunrise.wordpress.com, to track my progress.
