Hi Sharon! Welcome! I'm engage in neither tight lacing nor waist training, so I'll leave it to someone who does to give their own definitions.

Hi everyone

I am so excited to have finally joined the Foundations Revealed community (a little spring treat to myself).

My name is Sharon and I have been making my own corsets for about six months now.

I am very much a beginner and I am hoping that all your collective knowledge and experience will really help me along in my corsetry journey.

I have so far made four underbust corsets, ranging from a not so great first effort that seems to have gone a really funny shape from wearing to a triple layer fashion fabric and coutil corset that I am quite pleased with (still seasoning it in though).

I am currently working on my first custom overbust corset which I have drafted from the Corset Pattern compendium by Kirsty Sapsford, in leather look PVC and black coutil lining, it is more of a fashion corset than tight lacing which my other corsets are. Just the eyelets to set now and lace and it should be there.

Is there a difference between tight lacing and waist training BTW?

I was basically forced into corsetry as the OTR corsets that I had bought were just not fitting me well, I found that due to my pear shape I was swimming around the waist due to my large waist to hip ratio and getting awful rib pains. So I watched a whole bunch of youtube stuff and here I am.

I used to sew when I was younger - dolls, toys and stuff and had forgotten how truly happy I was behind a sewing machine, and corsets are perfect to make as I can still "see where I am going" with it which I find difficult with full outfits such as dresses and coats.

Anyway, that's where I am with everything. Looking forward to reading all the great articles and gathering as much knowledge I can.

Best regards

Sharon
