Welcome, and happy sewing back!

Leather is a very historical material. It was mostly used by lower class women or children. Here is a post about the subject by a friend of mine: isiswardrobe.livejournal.com/190871.html

I'm a self tought seamstress (for over 20 years now) and I'm so happy to be among my kin,
not everyone can understand the pasion ( or adiction) to sewing, desingning and constantly creating new things ;)

I'm from southern germany and there aren't many corsetmakers, so without FR there wouldn't be much possibilitys for me to learn the trade .

My trained profesion is upholstery, and I've also learned some bag maker- and saddler -skils
due to that, leather is my favourite material . If you've got a heavy duty -sewingmachine leather is so much faster , it won't fray an one layer is often enough...

But I'm here to learn it properly, with fabric and everything, to be able to make historic undergarments for costuming and modern stuff alike

What I've expirenced all these years is that it's always really hard to learn things all by yourself but if you' ve got a teacher than you'll get there twice as fast, and much easyer.

Happy sewing to all of you
