Hello,

I live by the Adriatic Sea, in a small European country called Croatia, but my fantasies often take me to distant times and places...
That's why I graduated fashion design on Faculty of Textile Technology and chose my vocation.

I started sewing my own clothes about 5 years ago and I draw my inspiration mostly from historic clothing, gothic, avant-garde, glam and fetish, and I love to experiment with those styles. My favorites are corsets of course, and I hope one day I'll be famous corset designer/maker like some of the great corset makers here on this board :)
I have had a few fashion shows and my work was exposed in a museum exhibition few years ago. I have also worked as a fashion design teacher in a high school. Now I decided to dedicate my life to corset making.

I will let my work speak for its self - my latest creations on my Facebook fan page: Contessa Gothique Design

It's my honor to be here on this board :)

Hello.

Unlike my fellow moderators I'm European based. Currently living in the Netherlands just outside Leiden in South Holland. Well how to start this introduction. I first got into costumes back in 99 as a result of Live Action Role Play. The price of some of the available costumes struck me as being far too much for running round a muddy filed in. As I Originate from northern England it was all to much for me and I promptly borrowed my mothers old Singer. I have worked my way through Mediaeval and the Renaissance and currently working round the Victorian Edwardian period. I also work with Drama groups so have produced 1930's cocktail dress for an alcoholic Russian Princess or a couple of renaissance Goth dress's for homicidal aunts among other costumes. Working in theatre is fun interesting challenging and always a learning experience, I would recommend it purely for the experience. However my default project at the moment are hats. I would seem to have charged down the millinery path, with the grace of some Berserker of old.

Besides offering advice on millinery matters I can chip in with corsetry as I have been making those for a few years as well as tailoring ( I made my own wedding suit ) and dress making over several periods. Saying that I still have a lot to learn which is one of the many reasons I first joined this site.

And I will start off:

I am broadly interested in costuming from the 1300s on, but my current focus for underwear is 18th and 19th century (bleeding over into the very beginning of the 20th). I moderate the Livejournal community Corsetmakers (corsetmakers.livejournal.com/).

I started sewing with intent to clothe in high school, and began to get interested in historical research around the same time. I worked in my college theatre's costume shop, which involved a lot of making do. I've been working in a buttons and ribbons shop for two years. I'm beginning to think about the possibility of starting up business as a clothier - I've done a few very small commissions for friends, and I would like to expand (but it's so scary!).

I live in Oregon.

I am going to shamelessly copy this on both forums.

Jennifer over on the YWU board started a Meet the Moderator topic, and I think it's a great idea so I'm bringing it over here! Take a few minutes, let the boards know your areas of interest, passion, favorite fabric -- whatever you like!
