Thank you so much for that, something I would never have thought of, and I do tend to be impatient! I will post some pictures when I'm done. Thanks for the welcome

Welcome Sam :)

So you made a mock up without any bones in it and the fit wasn't perfect? Yes I know sometimes it takes a lot of time for orders to be delivered, but if you don't have steel bones for mock up, you can use tamper proof ties in emergency situations. They can be bought in any hardware shop. They are 7mm wide and strong enough to support the mock up, and they are very cheap. I use it sometimes for mock ups, especially when I don't want to cut spiral steel before the final length of the corset is determinate. You can also put two of them on the front instead of the busk. Of course the curves will be different when you insert the spiral steel, but tamper proof ties are better than nothing.

Hi, I'm Sam. I bought my first corset (a Vollers) a couple of years ago, and the girl in the shop mentioned that she'd made her own. From this point on I was hooked. I made my first corset last year from the "draft your own corset pattern" free article (never been one to start with the basics!!). I made the mistake of being too impatient to wait for my bones and busk to be delivered before making the mock up though. When I finished, the waist and hips were great, but the bust line was just wrong. I have since de-constructed this corset and started a new one, re-using the bones and hardware. So far so good. Just in the process of doing the lining, but thinking of putting some hand embroidery in before I bind it. Thanks to everyone at the site for the free info, loving the stuff I've just signed up to too. Starting to get really ambitious now seeing some of the paid articles!
